We just canceled the TV portion of our Xfinity plan and remain on a 300Mbps internet plan (300Mbsp down / 25 up). Now that we are cable free, I was looking into faster internet and AT&T offers fiber internet in our neighborhood.Xfinity has no upside. Worse product, worse value, worse stability, worse company. I’ve had a better experience with AT&T Fiber than Google Fiber. Over the course of 1 year with ATT we never had a single outtage. With Google Fiber since October we’ve had 4 outtages lasting several hours/days. And the internet industry as a whole scored 68 out of 100. But none of those scores are great—they'd all be considered "below average" in a classroom. CenturyLink DSL is complete crap. Currently have Xfinity/Comcast in an apartment and regularly get speeds faster than what we pay for. Typical speeds are 130/25 and we pay 39.99 a month. The biggest thing people need to understand is that the cable company is only half to blame for poor internet connectivity. That being said, if you have the option of going with AT&T Fiber, I would take that personally. It's only $20/month more than Verizon 5G Home, but you get symmetrical UP/DL with low latency/jitter/packet loss on a consistent basis. Whether you go with Verizon or AT&T, leave Xfinity if you can. Some areas are starting to get Yomura Fiber, which is better than AT&T and Google. Their contention ratio is much lower, which means less customers are competing for bandwidth on a single GPON leg. I have many friends with AT&T Fiber in the Atlanta area that have outages multiple times a week over the past year. .
